early 1990's, first as collector and later as a collector/dealer. During
this time he has completed or nearly completed virtually all of the Tobacco
and Caramel card sets, as well as most 1930's thru 1960's era sets, handling
tens of thousands of cards in the process. He has been a contributor to the
Krause "Big Book" for over a decade, as well as writing articles for The
Vintage and Classic Baseball Collector, SCD, and many other publications.
Numerous dealers, collectors and auction houses have asked for his knowledge
of various issues over the years. He has helped many collectors with the
formation of their collections and has a large network of advanced
collectors that are constantly seeking new additions to their collections.
Leon Luckey has been in the baseball card hobby for a short 11-12
years.
During that time he has accumulated one of the most complete type card
collections in the hobby as well as handled many of the rarest cigarette
packs and ancillary items surrounding the cards themselves. He has written
articles for OldCardboard Magazine, 19thCenturyOnly website and has been a
contributor to the Krause SCD Baseball Price Guide and Beckett Almanac Price
Guide. He has been quoted in various blogs and most recently on the SCD
site. Leon also runs, with the help of two other moderators, the Network
54
Vintage Baseball Card Forum which is a premier site on the internet to talk
about vintage baseball cards, memorabilia and related items. Leon has
handled some of the rarest cards in the hobby and frequently receives calls
and emails from hobby veterans to consult on esoteric and rare baseball card
issues.
